Outdoor mats: To refresh, hose off and air-dry mats. Or get old fashioned and simply beat them with a broom.
Indoor mats: Vacuum indoor ones on both sides and be sure to clean the floors before putting them back down.
If your mats are in really bad condition, now is a great time to replace them!

This first task on your spring cleaning checklist should be to put everything in the washer machine – but I’m not talking about clothes! Save time by going from room-to-room and grabbing everything that can be washed. Think stuffed animals, light blankets, bedding, slipcovers, plastic and fabric shower curtains, rugs, bath mats, etc., – all these things can go into the washing machine.

Quickly zap yucky germs and bacteria from your home with one of these babies! But wait, there’s more. If you want to get really serious, get a steam cleaner that has enough power to effortlessly clean grout as well. I used to use a steam cleaner just because of how quickly I could remove gunk from floor and shower grout.
You can use it in every room of the house to quickly clean, deodorize and sanitize. I’m talking about curtains, bedding, mattresses, counters, floors, etc. Now that’s a spring cleaning tip worth its weight in gold right there!

It seems counterintuitive but don’t clean your windows on a bright sunny day if you can help it. Instead, choose a cloudy day. This will cut down on those pesky streaks and cloudiness – no pun intended. If you have blinds over your windows, clean them first.
There are a lot of hacks out there but seriously, to clean your blinds, just knock the dust off with a dry towel or duster and then wipe clean with a damp towel. Once they are dry – it should only take a few minutes – raise the blinds and then clean the windows.
Do not use vinegar on your stone countertops. I repeat, do not use vinegar on your stone countertops. Every now and again won’t hurt anything but vinegar will dull your beautiful counters over time and that’s so not cool! Grab your granite or stone polish to give your countertops shade worthy shine! And be sure to seal your granite to give it long-lasting protection!
Tip: Be sure to clean the corners and along the counter edges first. Then clean the middle – this will ensure you don’t leave any pesky crumbs on the counters.
You probably wipe down your fridge’s interior shelving on the regular already, but don’t forget about the rest. Grab the door shelves and bins to give the fridge a really good spring cleaning. Don’t worry, all you have to do is wash them in warm, soapy water to get them good as new!
If you’re afraid to look inside of your oven, just turn on the self-clean option. This will take care of a lot of the work for you. However, you’ll still need to wipe it out. There are a few good oven cleaning hacks out there so if your oven doesn’t have a self-clean option, place a hot, wet cloth on top of burned spots to help soften the spots. Then scrub with a heavy-duty pad and wipe dry.
Or try my personal favorite, a pumice stone. It’s basically a magic eraser but for your oven. And a total life-saver! All you do is wet the stone, wet the area you want to clean, and then rub the pumice stone back and forth over the burn spots and just like that – they will disappear!

If you run your hands over your kitchen cabinets and they feel either sticky or gunky, it’s time to ummm, de-gunk them. You can use some good ol fashioned dish soap and water or use a specialty product to give them a deep clean. Pay close attention to your cabinets around the stove and always clean around knobs and handles – things get very interesting in those areas.

You only need to remember two things when it comes to bringing your stainless steel back to life – go with the grain. First, clean the fridge with warm soapy water, then buff dry making sure your final pass is with the grain. And then for the fun part – give it an ultra-high, epic level shine with a stainless steel cleaner and polisher. Even if you buy a product that says it’s a cleaner, clean the fridge first – trust me on this one.
Either grab one online or use something you have around the house like baby oil! Not a joke. But seriously,

I mentioned this previously when I told you to wash everything but I had to mention this one specifically to make sure you heard me! You can wash a plastic or vinyl curtain in your washing machine. Do it on the gentle cycle with detergent and add a couple of bath mats or towels for extra cleaning power. Once it’s done washing, let it air dry.
Oh and don’t forget to throw bath mats in there as well!
All you need is a few minutes to completely transform your bathroom! Ok, maybe 20 give or take. But seriously, turning dingy, mold and mildew stained grout into the bright, happy color they were meant to be can change the whole mood of the place.

If it’s not white, it’s not right! Get rid of mold and mildew stains that can bring your whole bathroom down. Or if it’s in really bad condition, just recaulk the area. Taking a little time to tend to the caulk will add that magical level of clean you’re looking for!
Clear surfaces, clean top to bottom, from the back forward – that’s how you spring clean your furniture! I always tell people to skip the polish – it actually attracts dust – and just use a damp towel and cleaner to clean your furniture. Buff dry with a dry towel for a lustrous, natural shine!
Give your sofa a total refresh by using a steam cleaner to quickly kill all the yucky things hiding on your sofa’s surfaces as well as banish odors in one pass! Just be sure to vacuum the cushions, under the sofa and behind the sofa. You will need a vacuum cleaner with tools for this.

If it is attached to the ceiling, this is the time to clean it. Spring cleaning season is all about focusing on the spots you forget about the rest of the year. Use your extendable duster and a step ladder to clean ceiling fans (even they should be cleaned monthly), lights, vents, crown molding and ceiling corners.

You’re gonna need your vacuum tools for this one folks! Vacuum, wipe, dry – using the right tools, clean the mattress top with a damp towel, soap and water, remove odors and stains, let it dry and that’s it!
If you’re dealing with pee smell, spray the area with a 50:50 mix of vinegar and water. Let it sit undisturbed for 25 minutes and the pee smell should be history. Don’t worry, the vinegar smell will be too!
Quickly disinfect your mattress and other surfaces by running a steam cleaner over it to zap away all the germs and coodies.
I hate to mix spring cleaning with any serious decluttering projects – but I think small decluttering projects won’t through you off too much. All you need to do is get rid of last season’s options or anything taking up needless space in your closet.
However, if you have mountains of clutter throughout the house, let’s just take care of all that clutter before you actually start spring cleaning the house.

Whether you have a front-loading machine or a top loading one, things can get pretty funky around the top. Aside from using washing machine cleaners, you’ll need to clean the soap dispensing areas, the lid, knobs and the floor behind the washing machine.
And I need to add one more thing – the dryer. Be sure to wipe it down and clean the dryer vent

Over time, bits of food, grease, undissolved detergent, and water minerals build up on the dishwasher’s filter and interior walls. Along with an unpleasant odor and look, this gunk can actually leave spots and film on your glassware, dinnerware, and flatware.
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR DISHWASHER // Remove the bottom rack and wipe out any food sitting on the dishwasher floor. With some warm soap and water, clean the interior of the door including the edges and the door handle. Lastly clean the filter – just pull it out the bottom, rinse and put it back. Super easy!
Yep, it’s time to clean under all those big bulky pieces of furniture but let’s do it the easy, lazy girl way! Instead of trying to move furniture across the country to clean, just move it a few inches off the wall or to the left or right.
We need just enough room to use the vacuum cleaner wand and attachments to clean that area. To clean the rest of the floor under furniture, you should use a vacuum cleaner or a dust mop for hardwoods.
While we are talking about using the vacuum cleaner, now is as good a time as any to clean it! I’m talking the canister, the brush roll and those pesky filters – we are cleaning the entire vacuum cleaner. I’d do this before I actually start spring cleaning if I were you.
All you really have to do is rinse the canister and filters, replace filters that are old, and remove hair and trapped debris from the brush roll.

Don’t worry, as long as you have a hose and some soapy water, this will be a cinch! Just lather your furniture down and spray it down. You may want to flip the furniture over so that it dries quickly and that’s it! Told ya it would be painless.
These spring cleaning tips will help make spring cleaning a breeze! Just remember, you don’t have to do spring clean your house in one day or just in the springtime. You can tackle any of these cleaning tasks any time of year. The point is to simply make sure you do them at some point so that your house can always have next-level clean magic vibes going on! Happy Spring Cleaning!
